About the Authors
Leon Janssen grew up on a dairy farm in Couillardville, a small community a little more than 20 miles north of Green Bay Wisconsin, established by his great-grandparents--Thomas Edwin and Mary Ann Matravers Couillard. Leon earned degrees in Agricultural and Mechanical Engineering at the University of Wisconsin. After service in the US Army and an executive career with GE Healthcare, Leon returned to Meadow Brook Farm in 2001 to restore the farm and to set about collecting the memories of his friends and former neighbors, then compiling much of this material into a series of self-published books. He also created and hosted the annual "Machine Shed Reunions" a primary source of first person oral histories that formed the basis of MACHINE SHED MEMORIES.
Gene Medford is a professional writer who provided communication services to GE Medical Systems/Healthcare for nearly 40 years. In addition to his role as editor for this book, Gene led the research into the geology and early inhabitants of Northeastern Wisconsin.
Gene and Leon also cooperated in creating “Envision – A history of the GE healthcare business 1893-2008.”
